Very Nice Instrument

I purchased a Koscielny violin a little more than a year ago (Mar 2011) and have really enjoyed playing it. I wanted to replace several older german made violins that I had and it has. I have found that medium Helicore strings work best for me. Zyex mediums seemed a little thin under a microphone especially but seemed okay under the ear. Heavy Helicores seemed to bind the top plate down so were not as warm or loud as the mediums on my instrument. I play year round both inside and out of doors and have logged no less than 30 hours per week on the instrument - I find the instrument very predictable tone wise regardless of the setting. The instrument has held up fine construction wise and shows only a little color loss on the heal of the neck - the finger board and top plate show no wear. These were sold with oil finishes when I aquired mine - I'm glad to see that now they have spirit finishes. If something were to happen to my Koscielny, I would purchase another another to replace it. I find the tone and projection very balanced across all stings and positions You will not get lost in a mix of other acoustic instruments (good volume) and will still be able to be warm and in the background when need be. - Very nice Instrument.
