Most violins in this price category have a lacquer finish that is thick and glossy and not the
best for tone production. The Bunnels have an oil finish, which is a very unique feature that is
usually seen on more expensive violins. It not only looks much nicer, but sounds better as well.
The also have "wound" steel strings, which greatly improves playability and sound. Most
student violins just come with "solid" steel strings.
A step up from the Ricard Bunnel G2 violins, these finely crafted violins produce an even warmer more complex sound. They come with genuine D'Addario Helicore strings and very choice tone woods.
The Ricard Bunnel G1 Violin Outfit is a very nice violin for the intermediate to advanced student violinist.
The violins feature very select tone woods of solid carved spruce and maple. The fittings are 100% genuine high grade ebony. The top plate is made of very tight grained spruce and the back is more flamed than the Bunnel G2. These violins are professionally set-up with custom fitted, high quality bridges and come with genuine D'Addario Professional Helicore strings.These violins are completely hand made by master craftsmen.

AMAZING student violin!

I'm an adult beginner who'd been playing on a decent quality rental instrument for my first six months of learning. Back in December I decided to purchase a good instrument for myself. Although a lot of people told me not to buy online, I had a very good feeling about Kennedy Violins. Their product and performance videos are great, and I had seen some recommendations for them on a couple of forums.
Well, I was right on the money! Heather was so helpful, even though I had a million questions! This Bunnel G1 is INCREDIBLE. A neighbor who plays professionally couldn't believe I had paid under $800 or so for this instrument! I did upgrade the bow, which I love, and I bought a carbon fiber bow, as well. Heather really helped me customize my package so I got exactly what I wanted.
I've had my violin for about six weeks now, and I love it more every day. I'm still blown away by how rich the sound is. The instrument AND the service are just top notch!! Kennedy is my source from now on!!

The service from Kennedy was great. My violin came in a pretty short time considering the shipping was free and it was coming from across the Country. I thought the violin looked and sounded great, but I have very limited knowledge since I just recently started lessons so I will share the opinion of my instructor (an accomplished musician and music professor at my university).
When I first told him I rented my violin online instead of from a local music store, I saw the look of apprehension. However, when he saw the violin he was impressed by the quality for a starter violin and also said it had a very nice case as well.
Overall, I am very pleased with the transaction and feel this will fulfill my needs while learning until I am ready to make a more substantial investment in a higher level of instrument.
